Ebony Custis
Ebony Custis is an International Business Development Specialist for Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation.
Ebony’s notable fellowships and honors include: Council for International Education Exchange Scholar in Ghana, Graduate Scholar for Americans for the Arts, The Washington Center Non-profit Leadership Development Program, Margaret Walker Memorial Prize for the College Language Association. Ebony’s works have been published in Abafazi: The Simmons College Journal of Women of African Descent and Our Weekly News.
Ebony is an active member of the following organizations: International Business Strategy Advisory Council for Prince George’s County Maryland, Organization of Graduate Sociologists, Howard University Americans for the Arts, Emerging Leaders, American Anthropological Association, Association of Black Sociologists, and The Washington Center Alumni Group.
Ebony received her BS in Business Administration from Florida A&M University and is currently completing her Masters Degree in Sociology & Anthropology at Howard University. She also received a Diplomada from Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro, Mexico in Bioethics and Public Policy through the National Science Foundation’s North American Mobility Program. Ebony’s research interests are marginalized artistic and cultural practices, qualitative research methods, and ethics in research. Ebony has traveled extensively throughout the world and is fluent in Spanish, and semi-fluent in Portuguese and Twi.
